The difference between industrial switches and ordinary switches


What is the difference between industrial switches and ordinary switches? In fact, in terms of performance, there is not much difference between industrial Ethernet switches and ordinary switches. From the network level, there are two-tier switches, and of course there are three-tier switches. Industrial Ethernet switches are particular about the design of other products and the selection of components. It is oriented to the needs of industrial field use. It can still work normally under conditions of harsh mechanical, climate, and electromagnetic environments. Therefore, it is widely used in industrial production scenarios with harsher conditions and higher requirements for product stability and safety performance. 


1. Components Industrial Ethernet switches have higher requirements for the selection of components. To better adapt to the needs of industrial production sites, components need to have antistatic, lightning protection, ultra-high and low temperature resistance and other requirements.

 

 2. Mechanical environment Industrial Ethernet switches can better adapt to harsh mechanical environments, including vibration resistance, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, dust resistance, and water resistance. 


3. Climate environment Industrial Ethernet switches can better adapt to poor climate environments, including temperature, humidity, etc., and can be used normally at an ambient temperature of -40~+85℃. The product port lightning protection is 3600V and above. 


4. The electromagnetic environment industrial Ethernet switch has strong anti-electromagnetic interference ability, and the electromagnetic interference protection level reaches level 4.  


5. Working voltage industry The working voltage range of Ethernet switches is wide, covering the range of DC 12V-48V, while ordinary switches have higher voltage requirements and are mostly fixed voltage power supplies.  


6. Power supply design Common switches are basically single power supplies, while industrial switch power supplies are dual power supplies for mutual backup. In addition, the power loss alarm function is added.  


7. Installation methods Industrial Ethernet switches can be installed in DIN rails, racks, etc., while ordinary switches are generally rack or desktop.
